Check Fraud

Check fraud is the deliberate misuse of a check to obtain financial advantage. This includes altering the payee or amount on a check, stealing check, duplicating or counterfeiting check, using false invoices to solicit legitimate check, or depositing a check for payment knowing that insufficient funds are in the account to cover the deposited check.

  1. Protect yourself from Check Fraud
    1. Reconcile your account regularly and promptly and notify us of any discrepancies.

    2. Never sign blank check. Only sign check after all the other details have been completed.

    3. Use only permanent ink (preferably black).

    4. Limit the number of signatures to your account to ensure control.

    5. Ensure that any damaged, old, or altered check are destroyed.

    6. Keep your check book secure when not in use to deter theft.

    7. Leave no gaps in the completion of the payee name, amount in words and in figures.

    8. If check are lost or stolen, contact J Trust Royal immediately and ask us to load a 'Stop Payment'.

    9. Notify J Trust Royal if you have not received an ordered check book.

    10. Consider using electronic means of payment (if possible) for high value payments.

  2. How we protect you against Check Fraud
    1. J Trust Royal can place a “stop payment” on any check before it is presented. If you want to cancel a check payment please inform us as quickly as possible and we will note the instruction in our system. When the check is presented for payment at any bank in Cambodia, the check will be revoked and the payment will not be made.
