By staying vigilant and adopting some sensible, simple behaviours you can minimise your chance of falling victim to fraud, theft or an online attack.

Find out how you can...

  • Always access internet banking and our website by typing www.jtrustroyal.com into your browser. Never click on links provided in an email, especially links from senders claiming to be a financial institution. J Trust Royal will never send you an email asking for your account details, financial details, or your log in details for Internet Banking, JTR Mobile, or JTR Connect.
  • Never provide your personal or security details, including customer IDs or passwords, in response to any email – even if it looks legitimate – without contacting the sender through official contact points (e.g. published phone number) to verify the request.
  • Immediately delete emails of unknown origins, no matter how innocent or provocative the subject headings sound.
  • Do not open any attachments or install any programs provided in suspicious emails.
  • Change your Internet Banking password on a regular basis.

  • Pause before sharing personal information like your date of birth, address and bank details and don’t share it if you don’t need to or it doesn’t feel right.
  • Adjust your social media privacy settings to ‘private’ where possible.
  • Avoid sharing personal information when using free public Wi-Fi.
  • Immediately report any loss or theft of documents such as your drivers licence, credit card or passport.
  • Keep tax records and other financial documents in a secure place.
  • Cancel all unused or dormant accounts that you may have.

  • Keep your card in sight so that you know it is only being used on one machine.
  • Never share your PIN and always be discreet when you enter your PIN. Covering the keypad as you enter your PIN could help prevent someone stealing from you.
  • Before you use an ATM look for signs of tampering including scratches around the card slot, an unfamiliar or odd-looking card slot or any other features that don’t seem right.
  • Use an indoor ATM instead of an outdoor ATM if possible, as indoor ATMs are generally harder for criminals to tamper with.
  • Check your credit card statement regularly and promptly report any fraudulent transactions or suspicious account activity.
  • Notify us when you go overseas. Letting us know where you are going will help us identify legitimate transactions you make when you’re abroad. It can similarly help us detect suspicious activity and allows us to contact you if we need to verify a transaction.

  • Choose a PIN that is easy for you to remember but hard for anyone else to guess. Do not use numbers based on your birth date, phone number or other publicly available personal information or sequential numbers like 1234.
  • Immediately contact us on +855 (0) 23 999 000 if your credit or debit card is lost, misplaced or stolen or if your PIN is compromised.
  • Keep us informed of any changes to your contact details so that we can reach you quickly in the event we detect unusual activity on your account.
  • Memorise your personal identification number (PIN). Don't use the same PIN for all your cards, and don't choose your birth date or other easily identifiable numbers that you might carry with you.
  • Check statements and call your credit card issuer immediately if you see anything suspicious on your bill.
  • Card fraud can happen anywhere in the world; be vigilant when travelling overseas.
  • Always sign your card in ink as soon as you receive it.
  • When you use your credit card online, make sure you are using a secure, trusted website.
  • Never give your card number to strangers or telemarketers who call you on the phone. Don't give your card number unless you initiated the call.

  • Never sign blank cheques. Only sign cheques after all the other details have been completed.
  • Use only permanent ink (preferably black).
  • Limit the number of signatures to your account to ensure control.
  • Ensure that any damaged, old, or altered cheques are destroyed.
  • Keep your cheque book secure when not in use to deter theft.
  • Leave no gaps in the completion of the payee name, amount in words and in figures.
  • If cheques are lost or stolen, contact J Trust Royal immediately and ask us to load a 'Stop Payment'.
  • Notify J Trust Royal if you have not received an ordered cheque book.
  • Consider using electronic means of payment (if possible) for high value payments.
