Mobile payments offer convenience but securing them is key. Follow these essential tips to stay safe from scams and protect your financial information.

  • Unsolicited Messages? Be suspicious of unexpected calls, texts, or emails (even from familiar names) asking for personal info, login details, or urging urgent action regarding your account. J Trust Royal Bank will NEVER ask for your full PIN, password, or OTP via email, text, or call.
  • Too Good to Be True? Beware of offers, prizes, or investment opportunities that seem incredibly profit. Scammers use these to lure you.
  • Sense of Urgency? Scammers create panic. Take a deep breath. Verify any urgent request by calling J Trust Royal Bank directly using the official number [Contact Info], NOT a number given in suspicious message.
     

  • Personal Information (PII): Never share your full name, ID number, address, or birth date in response to unexpected messages or calls. Scammers use these details to impersonate you.
  • Keep it Secret: Your username, password, and One-Time Passwords (OTPs) are the keys to your financial vault. Never write down your PIN/passcode or share it with anyone, not even family or friends and not even someone claiming to be from the bank. J Trust Royal Bank will never ask you for it.
  • Beware of "Shoulder Surfing": Be discreet when entering your PIN or passcode in public. Someone might be watching over your shoulder.
     

  • Download or update JTR Mobile app from Official Stores Only (Google Play Store for Android, Apple App Store for iOS). Never from third-party websites or suspicious links.
  • Keep JTR Mobile App Updated: Enable automatic updates for JTR Mobile app. Updates often include critical security patches that protect you from new threats. 

  • Always Lock Your Screen: Use a strong PIN, pattern, or biometric (fingerprint/face ID) for your phone's screen lock. Never leave it unlocked.
  • Keep OS Updated: Enable automatic updates for your phone's operating system (iOS, Android). These updates contain vital security fixes.
  • Avoid Jailbreaking/Rooting: Modifying your phone's operating system removes crucial security layers and makes it highly vulnerable to malware.

  • Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Banking transactions: Public Wi-Fi networks are often unsecured and easily monitored by cybercriminals. Never log into JTR Mobile app or make payments on public Wi-Fi.
  • Use Mobile Data (4G/5G): Your cellular data connection is generally more secure or sensitive transactions than public Wi-Fi.
     

  • Beware of Public Charging Stations: Avoid using public USB charging ports. They can be compromised by stealing data ("juice jacking").
  • Use Your Own Charger: Always use your own wall charger and electrical outlet, or a portable power bank.
     

  • SIM Swap Fraud Awareness: Be aware of SIM swap scams where criminals transfer your phone number to their SIM to receive your OTPs. If your phone suddenly loses service, contact your mobile provider and/or J Trust Royal bank immediately.
  • Limit Social Media Sharing: Avoid posting sensitive personal information (travel plans, new expensive purchases) on social media that could make you a target for scammers or bad actors.
     

  • Report Immediately: If your phone is lost or stolen, immediately notify J Trust Royal bank

  • Enable Transaction Alerts: Set up SMS or Telegram alerts for all transactions (especially large ones) on your account. This helps you spot unauthorized activity instantly.
  • Review Notifications Carefully: Treat app notifications and SMS alerts with caution. Verify their legitimacy if they seem unusual or contact J Trust Royal Bank and ask for action.
  • Don't Click Links in Alerts: If an alert seems suspicious, open JTR Mobile app directly to check, instead of clicking any links in the notification.
  • Regularly Check Bank Statements: Don't just glance at your account statements. Review your transaction history frequently and accurately. Report any suspicious or unauthorized transactions to J Trust Royal Bank immediately.
